To preserve the beauty of textile upholstered furniture for a long time, it is important to clean and care for it regularly. The upholstery will thank you with a neat appearance and fresh colours.
1. Help with stains
In the event of stains, react IMMEDIATELY and dab carefully with an absorbent cloth (kitchen roll). Do not rub, work without pressure. Then rework with the appropriate PURATEX® cleaner. Always treat the entire surface, not just parts of the stain. Otherwise, a clearly visible lightening may remain in the spot compared to the rest of the upholstery surface.
Dusting in between
Vacuum the sofa weekly with the upholstery nozzle of the vacuum cleaner (max. 500 watts!) to remove house dust, crumbs and everyday dirt. Then refresh the fabric cover by wiping the surface with the moistened Cleaning Glove. This will give your sofa the valuable moisture it needs to maintain its freshness and beauty.
Other useful tips.
Avoid chalk marks
Always use distilled water when wiping the upholstery damp after cleaning to avoid ugly limescale stains.
Impregnation
After cleaning, allow the cover to dry thoroughly, then impregnate it again to maintain the dirt-repellent properties of the material.
Avoid discolouration
Take care with clothing that may stain your sofa (e.g. dark jeans). Even if there are rivets, zippers, etc. on the clothing, you should not sit directly on the sensitive fabric surface if possible.
Follow the manufacturer's instructions
When you purchased your upholstered furniture, you probably also received information about the cover material and corresponding care instructions from the manufacturer. These must of course be observed.
Material properties
Upholstery covers can be made of natural fibers (e.g. cotton), synthetic fibres (e.g. microfibre) or blended fabrics. Please always choose the right cleaning product for your fabric cover.
Care rhythm
Depending on the wear and tear on the upholstered furniture, we recommend quarterly cleaning and care, preferably with the PURATEX® Care Set for textile upholstery.
