Upholstered furniture with fabric covers captivates with an incredible variety of colors, patterns and materials. Textile upholstery covers are made either from natural fibers such as cotton, flax, wool and linen or from man-made fibers such as viscose or polyester. Blended fabrics made from chemical and natural fibers are also often used.

And since the fiber types differ in their material properties, cleaning and care must also be optimally adapted to them.

Fabric types

Alcantara

Alcantara is a microfiber fabric, an imitation leather, not genuine leather.

Alcantara is the brand name of the manufacturer and is technically a nonwoven microfiber fabric. Here, super microfibers are interwoven to form a fleece and imitate a nubuck-like leather look. The finer the fibers, the more leather-like the fabric becomes, and the more tear- and abrasion-resistant it is.

Cotton fabrics

The name cotton comes from the fact that it grows on trees (actually on tall bushes).

Cotton fabrics can be used universally due to their many positive properties, they are easy to produce and dye, are very tear-resistant and abrasion-resistant, resistant to heat, can be roughened easily and do not become electrostatically charged.
