SEMI ANILINE

It combines the best of two leather worlds: it is as soft and grippy as pure aniline and yet provides a certain degree of protection against stains and liquids thanks to its wafer-thin colour top layer. The light layer of colour does not cover the skin pores and the natural grain pattern, but only slightly protects them.

Semi aniline leather therefore represents "the golden mean" between the natural, very soft but also sensitive pure aniline leather and the somewhat stiffer, easy-care pigmented leather.

It is almost natural, but its light colour top layer offers a certain degree of protection against stains and soiling in everyday use.

Properties of semi aniline

Haptics

When you touch semi aniline leather, it feels non-slip, supple and soft. It quickly absorbs our body heat and feels very pleasant.

Manufacture

After dyeing, semi-aniline is tinted slightly with pigment colours. This light pigmentation should not cover the skin features, but only slightly protect them.

How do I clean semi aniline leather?

The light colour top layer offers a certain degree of protection against stains and liquids. If you react immediately in the event of soiling, semi aniline can be cleaned well with KERALUX^® leather cleaners.

Leather is first cleaned, then cared for. Why? The care lotion can only penetrate the leather and nourish it from the inside if the skin pores of the leather are free of dirt.

It is therefore important to treat the leather with the care lotion after every cleaning. This provides the leather with important moisture, refatting and sun protection and ensures that you can enjoy your leather couch for a long time.

Visible natural origin

Due to the thin layer of colour, the skin pores are still visible (using a magnifying glass). Just like the characteristics of its natural origin, which can be seen in the irregular grain and small healed wounds.

How often should I care for my leather couch?

With normal use of the leather furniture, we recommend a quarterly application rhythm.

This keeps the leather optimally cared for, protected and retains its beauty for a long time.

Our advice:

In the case of leather furniture, the manufacturer or furniture store often advertises a semi aniline leather, although in reality it is a (more) pigmented leather. This is intended to suggest better quality. You should therefore take a critical look at the leather quality when buying. If the leather feels rather stiff and cold and no natural features are visible, the term "semi aniline leather" may just be a deliberate enhancement of the leather.
