The exclusive

Pure aniline

Original, natural, noble, high-quality. Leather with a very individual character.

It is completely imbued with colour, but otherwise largely natural. Due to its naturalness, its surface is very soft, warm and sensually pleasant. The open skin pores allow a high level of breathability. The leather adapts to the body temperature in an instant.

Aniline leather is a valued upholstery material for elegant and prestigious upholstered furniture. It has a sensual, very sophisticated look and contributes significantly to the upscale ambience of the furnishings.

Aniline leathers are beautiful, natural and exclusive. They are breathable and feel very pleasant and warm to the touch.

Aniline leather changes over time, you can see the leather's use. However, I don't see the patina that develops as disturbing, but as an expression of the leather's individual character.

Description

Aniline leather is a collective term for very high-quality, natural smooth leather that can come from different animal species. As with all smooth leathers, the processing side corresponds to the outside of the animal's skin. Wrinkles and skin injuries are clearly visible. The grain pattern remains intact and gives aniline leather an individual and very natural character. With aniline leather, an even surface appearance is always clear evidence of a flawless hide.

How are aniline leathers dyed?

In contrast to pigmented or semi aniline leather, aniline leather only receives its colour through simple drum dyeing with soluble dyes. The skin pores remain completely open after dyeing. This allows the leather to retain its natural suppleness and is characterized by high breathability. As upholstery leather, aniline leather also impresses with its rapid warming, as it can quickly take on the temperature of the skin. Aniline leather owes its name to the aniline dyes, which today are generally replaced by more gentle dyes.

Why are aniline leathers so expensive?

Natural leathers are simply rarer. After tanning, the leather hides are sorted according to strict criteria. Only flawless leather, i.e. without major scars, fattening creases or other individual blemishes, is processed into aniline leather.

Aniline as upholstery material for the sofa?

Aniline leather is a valued upholstery material for elegant and prestigious upholstered furniture. Due to its natural state, however, aniline has no protective colour coating and is therefore very sensitive. Spilt drops soak directly into the leather and are then visible (see photo). Regular cleaning and care will ensure that the sensitive leather looks beautiful and well cared for for a long time. Over time, aniline leather develops a patina, which is often a desirable effect with this type of leather.

Correct cleaning

Depending on the type of stain, cleaning can be tricky and it is therefore particularly important to treat aniline leather only with care products designed for this purpose. Conventional leather care products from the supermarket often contain solvents and can damage the leather surface. The care agents must also have a balanced mixture of moisture and refatting, pure wax or excessively greasy care products can "oversaturate" the leather.

Care with sun protection

Furniture covered with aniline leather should not be exposed to permanent sunlight if possible, as this can cause the leather to fade relatively quickly. A lowered roller blind helps a lot. It is best to protect the leather after each cleaning with KERALUX® Care Lotion A, which provides the leather with intensive moisture and protects it from fading with a sun protection effect.

Characteristics

Original, natural, elegant, high quality. Leather with a very individual character. The open skin pores allow a high level of breathability. The leather quickly adapts to the body temperature, is very warm and soft to the touch.

Recognizable skin pores

It is completely permeated with colour, but otherwise largely natural. The individual skin pores are still clearly visible as hair-thin holes. Even fingernails leave traces, but these polish themselves back into shape during use.

Water stain test

You can also recognize aniline leather by dripping a little water on it. If the drop soaks directly into the leather and leaves a visible darker stain, it is an open-pored aniline.

Feel

Due to its natural state, the surface is very soft, warm and sensually pleasant. As an upholstery material for upholstered furniture, it has a very elegant and high-quality appearance.

High-maintenance

Due to the untreated surface, pure aniline is unfortunately very sensitive and susceptible to stains and signs of wear. Pure aniline develops an individual character over time, this "patina" is what gives aniline leather its charm.

€€€

As only flawless and scar-free hides can be used, which are rare, aniline-dyed leathers are considerably more expensive than pigmented leathers.
